Teixits Vicens is an ikat handicraft weaving company

Teixits Vicens is an artisan textile company where we manufacture ikat fabrics. An ancient technique that came to Mallorca through the silk route in the 16th century. Our history began in 1854 in a small wool weaving workshop in Pollença, Mallorca. The following generations have made the business evolve by introducing what is currently known as, "steal of llengües" or Ikat, and designing patterns with a freer style.

As manufacturers, we can offer our clients, in addition to the different collections of home clothes and fashion accessories, which they will find in our shop-workshop and website, the possibility of tailor-made services such as upholstery, curtains, tablecloths, cushions , tapestries, rugs, lamps, as well as decorative objects and antique furniture. Every season we design new accessories such as bags for shopping, for the beach, totes, handbags, belts and flat espadrilles with wedges, with laces, covered or uncovered.

In Teixit Vicens we have more than 100 drawings of different fabrics and 25 colors to choose from. Each customer can create his product "the letter.It is very important for us to publicize how Ikat fabrics are made.

The workshop is open to everyone who is curious about this art. We think that it is the best way to teach one of the oldest trades and that it has survived many stages of our history.
Its current owners have put all their effort into maintaining the artisan and Mediterranean spirit that characterizes this product, paying special attention to conservation, innovation and improvement.

Craftsmanship, by its nature, takes time to fully express itself. That is why in Vicens we do not want to feel obliged to give up in favor of the imperatives of ferocious consumption. Not deviating a millimeter from the original philosophy, dedicating the time and dedication necessary to carry out its activity, is the maxim in our company.

The human team that makes up the company is young people who have learned the trade and feel very involved with the work they do and what they contribute to society as a sustainable trade. Martí Vicens' profession as a master craftsman, and in parallel his career as an artist, have created a cultural heritage inside and outside the company. Together with his wife Antònia Capllonch, they were the third generation and the key for this company to continue to exist today.

Being such versatile fabric manufacturers gives us the freedom to collaborate with designers, architects, companies, individuals ... Whether in a photo shoot for a magazine or for the decoration of a house, hotel or space. And also to produce exclusive pieces for clients who demand it. This means that in Vicens we can offer our clients everything that is needed to dress the house such as cushions, tablecloths, napkins, curtains, upholstery, bed covers, among others, to fashion accessories and footwear.

In our work team we positively value connecting with other companies that share our work philosophy. That is why we annually get involved in new projects to continue growing and give the use of our fabrics one more time.

Although the list of collaborations is long, currently we have shared projects with Chef’s In, Camper, Can Joan de s’aigüa, Especias Crespí, Es Rebost, Antic Mallorca and Viana, all of which have trusted in our know-how.

Attending fairs such as the LDF (London Design Fair), Palma de Mallorca Nautical Fair, Trendset Winter (Munich) among others helps us to publicize our culture outside the country as well as connect with the avant-garde of other corners of the world.

It is very important for us, and responding to the demand of many of our clients, to make known how Ikat fabrics are manufactured. The workshop is open to everyone who is curious about this art. During the tour we explain the history of the company and where the techniue of this ancient trade comes from. After living this experience, we have been able to verify, how our clients appreciate and value much more, if possible, what is considered today, one of the oldest trades and that has survived many stages of our history.

In Teixits Vicens we invite you to follow all the manufacturing process. We offer guided visits to everybody from Monday to Friday from 9am till 12pm.
