LA FIRA

LA FIRA

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP EXHIBITION IS THE IDENTIFYING FEATURE OF THE POLLENÇA FAIR

The fourth Sunday after Saint Lucas - Pollença organises its trade fair; it is usually the second Sunday in November

This fair enjoys a very old tradition; the first evidence is from 1784, even though at that time it had already been celebrated for long.

Nowadays, the Fair (or how is known locally, la Fira) is held on Saturday, Sunday – the main fair’s day- and Monday or second fair; and that means that not that long time ago, the ‘Firó’, that is the Tuesday which closed the celebrations, has disappeared.

Precisely, in 1984, on trying to recover the splendour of the trade Fair, the first Craftsmanship Show was created and shown at the incomparable setting of Saint Domingo’s Cloister, and from that moment it has become a distinctive feature of the Fair which has contributed in a big deal to its recovery.
